Matilda, the Trad Wife, is not stupid. She avoids reality because it hurts. In this story, she mistakes

peace for safety. Her husband isn't crazy. He is consumed by obsession. What if every institution

became obsessed with behavior? I don't hate this community, if I did, I wouldn't care what happened to

it. This story blends many different kinds of horror. The point is that evil is easier to live with than one

might think. It's about people who mistake comfort for truth. Human beings will tolerate astonishing

lies if those lies preserve a world they desperately want to keep.
